Nikao Youth Ministry

What is Nikao?

Nikao is the Greek word for Victory or to be victorious in Christ (pronounced: ni-kay-o'). Nikao serves Middle School through High School students as well as their Parents from all over Bartlesville and surrounding communities!! We would love for you join us for one of our programs this week for the 2009-2010 Nikao season: "step up".

When and Where is Nikao?

We understand there are many needs in youth ministry; because of this, we exist in two areas, "programs" and discipleship"!

The Programs are the weekly and yearly events that happen:

  • Nikao Nights

    Wednesdays @ 6:30pm in the GCC Worship Center for 7th - 12th Graders

    Nikao

    *Youth Praise Team (Media & Skit) meets at 4:30pm each Wednesday as well as the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm

  • Life Hurts, God Heals

    Mondays @ 6:30pm in the GCC Worship Center for 12 years to 20 years old ((LHGH has two 14 week sessions - one in the fall and again in the spring))

  • Big Events

    • Nikao Kick-Off: the first big event to kick-off our ministry each year (Aug.)
    • Vespers: two special nights where students get to experience worship in a new way (once in the fall & spring)
    • Father-Daughter Banquet: an elegant event and dinner with dad (Feb.)
    • Mother-Son Evening: a fun night at the movies with mom (Oct.)
    • Senior Sunday: a bitter sweet day to honor our graduating seniors (May)
    • Reel Time: a 6 week movie series where we watch and discuss new movies (June & July)

  • Service Projects

    • Christmas Candy Canes & Carols: visiting area nursing homes (Dec.)
    • Egg-stravaganza: Easter egg hunt, skits, and games at local apartment complexes (April)
    • Spring Break Serve-a-thon: an opportunity for the whole family (all ages) to serve together in our community the first three days of spring break (March)
    • Mission Nikao: is one of three events with specific purposes (Mission Waco = Homeless, Camp Barnabas = Special Needs, Compass Wilderness = Leadership) each event is on a three year rotation and is available for freshmen (1st week of June)

  • Small Groups

    Wednesdays @ 7:15pm in the GCC Worship Center for 9th - 12th Graders

    *We currently have 8 small groups... broken up by grade and gender. Our groups meet following corporate worship in the large group time

  • Sunday Classes

    Sundays @ 9:15am in the Nikao Youth Building (eastside of the main building through the atrium)

    *We have a four 4-week sessions that take place every other month...

    We do this to help families stay in the habit of worship together, as well as, keeping or Sunday Classes new and exciting

  • Big Events (with other ministries)

    • See You at the Pole Rally: is the time when all Youth Ministries get together to pray for our area schools (Sept.)
    • Man-Up: is an all area High School Guys event, designed to show and discuss what Godly leadership for men looks like (Aug.)
    • Girls R.U.L.E.: is an all area High School Ladies event, designed to show and discuss what Godly leadership for women looks like (Aug.)
    • Walk this Way: an annual event & concert held by Vision Onward serving our community on the Westside
  • Missional Service

    We encourage our students to get plugged in to area ministries as well as finding ways to serve in their daily lives...

How do I get involved at Nikao?

Show up!! We hope to make everyone who walks through our doors feel accepted and loved, as well as, help move you into a deeper relationship with others and Christ. So please take the first step...COME!! You don't have to know anyone... Everyone is invited!!
