Dr. Rod MacIlvaine – Senior Pastor

Rod

Rod and Cindy moved to Bartlesville in 1995 with their four children to help plant Grace Community Church. He received his B.B.A. from Southern Methodist University and his Th.M. and D.Min. from Dallas Theological Seminary.

Before being involved in local church ministry, Rod served on the staff of Search Ministries, a parachurch organization dedicated to helping those who are far from Christ consider the claims of Christ in creative and non-threatening ways.

During his tenure with Search, he was instrumental in co-authoring publications on discipleship and apologetics.

Since 1998, Rod and the various mission teams at GCC have been active in planting churches in central Russia and in the Caribbean, and to date Grace has had the privilege of establishing over fifty churches internationally. In the process, Rod and elders founded Grace Missions International (GMI) which equips church planters to establish grace-oriented missional churches that share Christ in the context of meeting tangible needs.

Our serving experience, internationally, strongly influenced us to transition our church in a missional direction in 2006. Since then we’ve sought to serve our community with Christ-like love, as if we were a missionary organization serving overseas. (Check out our Missional Church Manifesto to learn more about what missional churches are and how they function.)

Rod is a Veritas Worldview Institute Fellow at Oklahoma Wesleyan University and a member of the faculty.

Since launching Celebrate Recovery in 2005, a definite recovery culture has come to permeate the various ministries of Grace Community Church. People often tell us that GCC has become more a hospital for the hurting than a hotel for satisfied people who think their lives are going well. This has had a transforming impact on Rod and Cindy, personally, as well as their four children.

Rod and Cindy enjoy sailing, backpacking, traveling in England and their big Weimaraner puppy named Sadie. But his number one passion is communicating God’s grace.
